Nasty C on fleekNsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, better known by his stage name Nasty C, is one of the country’s most prominent performers. This young King is widely regarded as one of the country’s best young rappers. Nasty C was born in Diepkloof, a large zone of Soweto in Johannesburg, Gauteng. At a very young age, Nasty C had to relocate to Durban where he was raised by his father.
His mother died when Nasty C was only 11 months old in a fatal car crash.

Nasty C is commonly known for the single “Way It Go” by DJ Switch featuring Tumi and Youngsta, as well as the well-received remix to his single “Juice Back”, which features Davido and Cassper Nyovest. He saw himself being the youngest recipient for an award at the 2015 South African Hip Hop Awards, namely the Best Freshman Award. In the winter of 2018, Nasty C released his second studio album, titled Strings & Bling. Even before te year could even end, Nasty C was named the best rapper in South Africa together along with the best African rapper of 2018 by TINA Magazine.


Ever since the loss of his mother to a rather fatal car crash at only 11 months of age, Nasty C was was brought up by his father. He has an older brother who is also a music producer. In fact, his elder brother was his inspiration.


As hard as it is to believe, Nasty C has a serious girlfriend as one would put it. She goes by the name Ntombizodwa Beatrice Sibanyoni. Ntombi has been Nasty Cs’  girlfriend since Grade 9 at Nuz Junior High in the township of Umlazi, Durban.


Nasty-CAs a result of his brother being a producer at the time, Nasty C started rapping at the age of 9 years. Eventually as time went by, he mastered the process of music production which led to him adding his vocals on the beats he was making. He was later signed to Free World Music- a Durban based artist management company.

Nasty C got to release his first mixtape, One Kid a Thousand Coffins back in May 2013. His second project titled L.A.M.E (Extended Play Version) – EP was released on 4 April 2014. L.A.M.E. which is an acronym for “Levitating Above My Enemies”.
On the 10th of February 2015, he went go on to release his highly successful mixtape, titled Price City. From this tape was his major single “Juice Back” which later spawned a remix featuring Davido and Cassper Nyovest, produced by Gemini Major.

On the 9th of January 2016, he was featured on Anatii and Cassper Nyovest’s collaborative single “Jump”. The official music video for the remix to the single “Juice Back” was released a year later in January 2016. At this stage it’s safe to say that Nasty C as officialy international. He got an invite to America where he appeared on SWAY in the Morning and freestyled over 6lack’s Prblms instrumental. Shortly after that, on the 15th of February 2018, he announced that he has officially signed to Universal Music Group and departed from Mabala Noise.


Nasty C  Right after Nasty C got his stage name “Nasty C” form his first producer, it was all the way up for him. He had big dreams that he managed to catch as he not only got to meet one of his major influencers, AKA, but Nasty C managed to also open for him during the nationwide album launch for AKA’s debut studio album Altar Ego. Nasty C highlighted that performing alongside Supermega at a Durban festival was one of the best experiences of his life.



This catchy stage name “Nasty C” was given to him by the very first producer he ever worked with. He got to release his first mixtape, One Kid a Thousand Coffins on 24 May 2013. Almost a year later, on the 4th of April 2014, he released his sophomore project titled C L.A.M.E which is anExtended Play Version – EP.

NastyC bad hairBad Hair is the debut studio album by Nasty C released by Mabala Noise Entertainment on 23 September 2016. The album was made available for streaming and free digital download on Audiomack on the same day of its release, and was added to iTunes on September 24, 2016. The album features guest appearances from Omari Hardwick, Riky Rick, Tshego, Tellaman, Erick Rush and Rowlene.

Nasty Cs’  Bad Hair had songs like ‘Hell Naw’ which peaked at number 4 on the music charts in South Africa the song also peaked at number 1 on The Beat 99.9 FM African Top 10 chart in Nigeria. He only released Bad Hair after signing to Mabala Noise Entertainment. This was a rather highly anticipated project on the music streaming platform Audiomack. He later explained that this was due to a sample he couldn’t clear from one song in time before the release date. December 2016 saw Nasty C releasing an extended version of Bad Hair, titled Bad Hair Extensions with notable singles like “Allow” featuring the American rapper, French Montana.

The Ivyson tour is a concept based on Nasty C’s late mother’s name Ivy and thus translates to Ivy’s Son. Nasty C had a close relationship with his mother, who was and still is a main source of inspiration. He dedicates all of his efforts and success to his late mother and the ideals that she imparted on to him. The Ivyson tour kicked off in Cape Town (the Mother City) which was also his mother’s home town.

On both songs, Nasty impresses with quotables and his ever-solid delivery. For instance, on “King,” he raps: “We get real busy long days/ You just log in and tweet long threads/ It’s ironic how all of my girls will gimme the go but they all red.” I felt that.

Strings and Bling Album

Strings And BlingNasty C dropped his elite album, Strings and Bling in July 2018. This album set the bar very high in terms of features, content and overall return rate for Nasty C.

The album’s release was preceded by three singles “Jungle”, “King” and “Legendary”. Strings And Bling features guest appearances from American rapper A$AP Ferg, Rowlene and Kaien Cruz.

September 2017 marked a rather traumatizing period for Nasty C as thieves stormed his Johannesburg home, where they tied him up together along with four others at gunpoint.

According to TshisaLIVE the rapper was shaken yet grateful that no one was hurt in the incident. “Nobody was injured in the house robbery and everyone is just grateful that there were no injuries, because it had the potential to be much worse,” Nasty C’s close friend Pierre Ball apparently told the publication.

The thugs apparently made off with valuables including a Rolex watch, laptops, tablets and cell phones. A case of house robbery is currently being investigated by police.

“Yes, we can confirm that there were five victims in the house when two suspects got into the house and tied them up. One was armed with a gun and the other with a knife” SAPS spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said.
